Canadian basketball fans have a passion for buckets, but a big bucket problem: winter. So, we helped KFC reimagine their iconic bucket to connect with basketball-obsessed fans to become the MVP of QSRs – all without an official NBA sponsorship.

We created the world’s first winterized basketball court with a “regulation sized” KFC bucket as the playable centrepiece. Complete with a non-slip surface, heated basketballs, and down puffer KFC jerseys, we opened the KFCourt to the public with bookable court times (and free KFC).

Thousands came to play, and in addition to sold-out court time, the court got social media buzzing with appearances from basketball legends Gary Trent Jr. and Lethal Shooter.

Plus, with one of the biggest sporting events around the corner (Superbowl LVII) the KFCourt was used as the set for a Superbowl spot featuring homegrown talent, the Scarborough Shooting Stars.

With a 1300% increase in buzz among NBA fans and wide-spread awareness on social and traditional media outlets, the KFCourt made KFC the #1 QSR in basketball – all without an NBA sponsorship.
